A simplified version of my Big Bang anthem, intended to be sung by the congregation as a hymn. It offers the scientific version of the creation story.
The Eyes and Ears of God is a hymn expressing the idea that the Creator of our Universe had to allow for the development of life in order to have have sensors and manipulators of data for purposes of self awareness. It is an element of the theology of Religious Naturalism. SA with piano accompaniment.
Proclaiming the creation of the living and nonliving aspects of the universe and the links between them. The choir as God. SATB, piano. Degree of difficulty: High. Duration: 3:50
The original version had the choir singing a cappella half the time. Because this was difficult for our choir I arranged a new version in which a guitar accompanies the choir in those parts.
The third version with piano, trumpet and clarinet accompaniment was arranged for a concert at which orchestral instruments were available but not a guitar. The clarinet takes over the guitar part, somewhat revised, and the trumpet is added to the proclamations about creation of the physical world.
The story of the development of life on Earth. Evolution revealed as an intelligent way to design life. The music evolves with the story. SATB, piano. Degree of difficulty: High. Duration: 4:30.
Evolution Fantasy is a shorter, simpler version prepared for a small choir. SAB, piano. Degree of difficulty: Moderate. Duration: 4:05.
The creation and unfolding of the universe in three minutes. The refrain: There is no God but Big Bang. SATB, piano. Level of difficulty: Moderate. Duration: 3:15.
Rejecting tales of woe and doom, but not before telling them. SATB, piano. Level of difficulty: Moderate. Duration: 5 min.
Inspired by a sermon that examined the variety of views about God that may be found in a typical UU congregation. They are presented in a question and answer format with the answers coming first (as they often do). SATB with divisions, piano. Level of difficulty: Difficult. Duration: 4:30
